No. Your voucher covers your standard flu shot, and a shot at your workplace clinic costs you nothing extra.
Using your voucher
- The voucher covers the standard flu vaccine. If you ask for a different vaccine it doesn't cover, such as a cell-based one, the pharmacy may charge you the difference.
- You don't need a Medicare card to use a voucher. Bring it if you have one.
- The voucher has no cash value. You can't exchange it for money or use it to pay for anything else.
If you're eligible for a government-funded vaccine
Some people can get a flu vaccine that is government-funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP). If that's you, the voucher doesn't apply and pharmacies must not use it. You get the government-funded vaccine instead, and you can choose a GP or a pharmacy.
Some GPs and pharmacies charge a consultation or service fee, so ask when you book. To check, see who is eligible on health.gov.au.
65 or over? See I'm 65 or over: which flu shot should I have?
In New Zealand, check whether you can get a funded flu vaccine on Pharmac's flu page.
State programs
Some states, such as Queensland and Western Australia, have run government-funded flu programs in past seasons. While one covers you, your voucher doesn't apply.
