Do vaccines contain Mercury?

Thiomersal, a compound that contains mercury, was once used in the production of vaccines. However, manufacturers have now removed it from all vaccines following the National Immunisation Program of Australia in 2000. Thiomersal has not been proven to cause damaging side effects in adults or children.
