Why should I get a flu vaccination?

Flu vaccines, or flu jabs, can protect you against infection with the flu virus. If fewer people become infected, then the entire community will be less affected, and those who are more susceptible to the virus, including infants and the elderly, will be protected.

Every year a new vaccine for seasonal flu is developed. Seasonal flu vaccines protect against the four most common strains of flu in Australia: the H3N2 strain, the H1N1 pandemic strain and two influenza B strains.
